A Great Month Overall

30 June 2007 [Saturday]

Keegan and I are going to Max's birthday party today. Not sure what else is planned. Sometime this week we need to hit the foodstore and pick up all the stuff for our 4th of July party in the cul-de-sac. We also never made it to South Carolina to get illegal fireworks, so we'll pick up a couple of boxes of the ones they sell here. The kids still enjoy them anyway. I just get tired of all the same type 'thing' after awhile.

29 June 2007 [Friday]

One day back at work today before my long vacation. Rode the motorcycle in as Keegan took the bus again this morning and allowed only me to take him! :) So glad I got to see him do it before Kindergarten was over as this is his last day of Kindergarten. As I type this today he's got only 1.5 hours left! Amazing. What a big boy he's growing up to be.
I rode the motorcycle in today. Really hot and humid out. I'll be sweating tonight when I leave in all my protective gear. But looks like a chance of rain at least to cool things down.
I'm out on PTO after today from Saturday June 30th - Sunday July 8th! Woohooo!!! Keegans first day in First Grade is July 9th so I'll have his whole break off with him which will be great. We would like to go camping, but are trying to avoid the crowds on this weekened. So we'll probably camp in our backyard for something fun and then go camping once it gets cooler in September or October and all the crowds and ticks are gone.
Amanda may go to a practice night for volleyball tonight at the YMCA if she feels up to it. We'll see. She's tired now when I called her near the end of the day.

28 June 2007 [Thursday]

I took PTO day today as Keegan had his Kindergarten graduation today!!! He's got one more day of school tomorrow and then he's done with Kindergarten. I can't believe how fast he's growing up! Makes me sad and happy both. Carson had swim class and met us at the school. He did great singing and remembered all of his lines. Really proud of him. Then the whole assembly had a picnic/pizza lunch outside on the grass and after that he was allowed to go home the rest of the day.
We headed over to the Toyota dealer to take a minivan test drive as we had a $50 cash card voucher if we went on a test drive. It was nice, but boy are they expensive. Too much $$$ for us to spend brand new. I just can't justify it. We'd go with a new Dodge if anything or a used one at that most likely. Kids did great during the time we were there though and we got to leave with our signed certificate.
All the boys painted Carson's butterfly house today with a plain white sealing coat. Tomorrow after it dries they'll put on the butterfly designs and colors.
Went home and played and then Keegan and I went on a bike ride after dinner. Was a nice way to end the day. Started raining just as we were headed home.

27 June 2007 [Wednesday]

Worked from home again as Amanda worked all day. Today was the FIRST day that Keegan actually took the bus TO school!!! Yay!!! He wouldn't go with me and was putting up a fit and only wanted to go with Amanda. No one else was allowed to go. He did get on and did great and Noah sat with him he said. So nice to hear and it really helps Amanda and I out in the morning saving us 10 miles of driving and about :25 minutes too. Only drawback is that we have about :30 min less time to get him ready in the morning. So the days he's really tired, we'll still drive him so he can sleep in a bit.
I got to take Carson to swim class today as Amanda was at work. Nice for me and he did great. Really neat to see him join in stuff.
Carson and I built his butterfly house finally that he's been asking for. Got some nice free plans off the internet yesterday and stopped after work and got the wood too. Today after work we put it all together.

25 June 2007 [Monday]

I worked as usual. Carson started his swim lessons today during the day and did great Amanda said! I'm so proud of him. Joining the YMCA really paid off in how comfortable and good they ALL are doing in the water. Ian has made huge gains too and swims on his own with a floatie belt and doesn't want to be held!!! Seeing his brothers do it has really helped him too.
Amanda had her first volleyball game today with the YMCA team she joined. I'm really happy for her and glad she likes it.

24 June 2007 [Sunday]

Went to the Asheboro Zoo today. We got there by 10:30am and it was overcast the whole time we were there so that turned out great. Really started to heat up just as we were walking to the car around 2:30pm. Kids had a great time and it turned out better than I thought. Thankfully we brought along all the strollers and we were able to catch the tram between the 2 main spots to avoid a lot of walking. Keegan really did great walking on his own as he always does with just a bit of stroller riding and no complaining. Although he and Ian constantly fought over who would push the umbrella stoller when no one was riding in it! :)
We stopped at IHOP right in town on the way home and had a really nice early dinner - but all breakfast food. Kids gobbled everything up as usual!
Nice ride home and suprisingly only Ian and Carson fell asleep and only for a bit. Nice day overall and glad we went before our membership expired at the end of the month.
23 June 2007 [Saturday]

We went to a magic show that was free at Bond Park in the afternoon. We all loved it. Tons and tons of kids there. We got a great seat up front. It was about an hour long. We walked and saw the ducks then and then went home for a nap as we had a late night coming up because the YMCA was sponsoring a free movie night. We got there around 8:30pm and saw Dawn, Todd and the kids there and sat with them so that was nice. The movie (The Wild) was horrible and the lighting was bad and it was noisy from the popcorn machine, but the kids still had fun. We stayed thru the whole thing as it was a nice night out. They provided tons of free snacks and drinks and I think Keegan must of eating 15 vanilla cookies, cotton candy, ice slushy, etc. :) Carson and Ian fell asleep about :30 minutes into the movie. We all walked home together which the kids enjoyed. A nice night out again.

22 June 2007 [Friday]

Normal work day. Had Frank Brown's going away lunch at Cafe Luna (good place) - they also included me in that for my 'switching teams' lunch. Nice break in the day. It sure is hot outside today though.
Tonight when we get home, we'll have dinner and then Keegan and I are going over to Eric and Denises to see they new baby. Either of us have yet to see him as Keegan was in school and I was at work when Amanda went over with the other kids. I'm sure we won't stay too long, but it will be nice to get over there.

21 June 2007 [Thursday]

Worked from home this day instead of Wednesday as Keegan had a performance in his music class today. So we all went to that. He did a great job singing and following along and it was really nice to see what they do in class.
Amanda earlier went to the spa and finally used some of the Mother's Day gift certificate I gave her to have her eyebrows done.
At night we all went to Koka Boothe Ampitheater and watched the movie in the park, this Thursday it was 'Charlotte's Web' (the new version I found out - involving real people instead of animations and it was really good). Movie didn't start until 8:45pm and the kids stayed up thru the whole thing!!!! I was so proud of them. They did great not talking too loud, not getting ansy, or complaining. Really nice night we all had. Earlier before the movie started they were running around playing with this boy who kind of joined in with them. Great fun to see them all get along! I thought for sure they would all be asleep thru the movie with all the energy they expended, but nope. Even Ian stayed up until 10:45pm !! We'll for sure go to the other kids films they'll show thruout the summer.

17 June 2007 [Sunday]

Stayed home all day. Father's Day. We all still felt a bit under the weather from whatever bug is going thru us all. Amanda went out to the store and got us steakj and potatos and we had a GREAT dinner! Just tasted great as we don't have fancy meals like that anymore, but when we do they really are a treat. We watched Pirates of the Caribean part 2. Was pretty good, but a long movie.

16 June 2007 [Saturday]

Went to the 'airplane' park and walked on path then went on row boat ride at Bond Park. I really love going on the row boat and would for sure own one if lived on a lake by our house. It's great upper body exercise and very relaxing to me to hear the water splash against the boat.

15 June 2007 [Friday]

Had the 'Donuts for Dad' at Keegans school today. It was really nice to park in the morning with him and walk in, knowing I didn't have to rush to get to work as I told them I would be late. The room was full of dads and it was nice to see his new table and the people he sits with. He's only got 2 weeks of Kindergarten left! I can't belive how quickly he is growing up. :(
Work is a usual day. I finally signed up for my first welding class at Wake Tech today. Stick Welding! Starts August 15th. Cost is $177, plus I need to get a supply list and I know that won't be cheap, but it is always something I have wanted to learn to do. I'm excited to start, but worried about missing the family. Class will be two nights a week, Monday and Wednesday from 6-10pm. 1 hour of that is classroom, and the other 3 are lab! :)
If I enjoy it and feel I want to learn more, I will then take the MIG and TIG classes later next year perhaps.
Nothing else special going on that I can think of. We have no plans for this Father's Day weekend. I'm on the SEV 1 on call pager this week. Can you believe it's my first week after having been in this group for one year! Some how I went under the radar, but without any doing on my part. It's just how it played out I guess. So I don't feel too bad about doing it. I also found out today that after I come back from vacation during the first week in July, I will start full time back in the Services group. It's nice to have a date put on that finally.
We may go out to dinner tonight, if all of the kids have taken a nap, but I'm guessing not which is fine, as I enjoy playing outside with all of them during this cool weather. By Sunday it's suppose to be in the mid 90's again. Yuck.

14 June 2007 [Thursday]
Rode the bike into work today. Looked like rain, but I just felt like riding. Glad I did. Bike needed to get out and stretch it's legs.
Nothing else special about today. Went home and we had a nice dinner and played outside till about 8:30pm. Jim, Larry, Conner and I talked for a good hour and it was great fun to get caught up again while the kids played. They were 'grinding' chalk as they like to do. They were sure a mess when it was over.

9 June 2007 [Saturday]

Went to Bond Park around 1pm to see the free Bluegrass concert. It was HOT outside - about 95F, but we found shade thankfully and the kids did great for about two hours before we had to leave. It was fun to watch and they were entertained most of the time. Really cute when a chello was brought out and Keegan kept calling it a big guitar! :) We got some Red, Hot and Blue BBQ from the stand that was there as well. It was OK, but not as good as going to the restaurant.

6 June 2007 [Wednesday]
Taking a sick day today - as I have to bring all the kids to a birthday party that Carson was invited too for Howie. It's outside and they have some kiddie pool and slip-n-slide stuff planed. Hope it all goes well. Amanda has to work a full day and I want to spend some time alone with the kids and use my vacation so it all works out well.

5 June 2007 [Tuesday]

Rode the Guzzi into work again. Leaving early as Amanda as another dinner with the drug rep and Dr. D. I'll have to take Keegan to swim class with Carson and Ian. Not sure if we'll go swimming afterwards as it will only be me to watch them. We'll probably hit the kiddie pool as I won't be able to watch them in the deep pool by myself, especially since Ian hasn't been wanting to go in the water after waiting for Keegan's swim class to finish.

3 June 2007 [Sunday]

It finally rained today!! Yeah! All day basically nice light rain and then heavy rain and then light. We really needed it. We stayed around the house. Kids helped me change the oil and filter on the Guzzi and put the crashbar back on. Put the replacement interupter on the Ural as well. Now just need to put the carb and exhaust header back on, check the compression and valves and try to start it back up. I'm not in a hurry as I haven't been missing riding since I ride the Guzzi every day to work - but I know the kids would like a ride so I hope to get it done by next weekend sometime.
We took a break around 2pm and went to eat a very late lunch at "The Loop" since we had a coupon. Was a nice break in the day and the rain had stopped. Kids did good and ate everything since we made them wait so long for lunch. Picked up a couple missing bolts I needed for the Guzzi and headed home. It started to rain just minutes after coming home too. Nice timing on our part. Putzed around until it was dinner time. Fixed them a snack of crackers/cheese and apple and then they headed to an early bed with book reading. Amanda and I watched 'Brokeback Mountain'. It wasn't as bad as all the controversy when it first came out I thought. Otherwise good movie overall I thought.

2 June 2007 [Saturday]

Found out about the Moto Guzzi demo rides near Burlington, so left the house at 10am for that on the Guzzi. Amanda took the kids to Bond Park to watch the dog frisbee competition.
I had a great time at the dealer and was able to test ride the Norge 1200, Breva 1100 and Grisso 1100. I loved the Breva and would buy one right now and trade in the EV and never look back - it felt that good to me. But I don't have much to compare it to and somehow need to find a way to get a ride on the Suzuki V-Strom for comparison. Ate a free hot dog and a couple pieces of pizza, picked up 2 oil filters and some nice tire irons for the Ural and left towards home...late. Amanda in the meantime took the kids to SAS Soccer Park for the Animal Expo. I got home, and went over to meet them, just as it was closing and they were on their way out. We stopped by Dairy Queen on the way home and had some ice cream and ate outside it was so nice. Amanda went to TJ Max in the strip mall while the kids and I finished. Head a minor car accident nearby that grabbed our attention so we walked where we could see it better while we waited on Amanda. We all then headed home and kids took a bath and hit the bed.

1 June 2007 [Friday]

Rode the bike to work again as I have been doing. Nothing unusual this day that I can recall. Went out to lunch to Brass Grill for Trey Bason's going away lunch. Today was his last day here at Peopleclick.
