We're Off ... we'll almost

Tomorrow morning early, we leave for the airport to try to get on an airplane to Chicago. We want to visit before Keegan starts Kindergarten on July 12th. We were planning on leaving tonight (Friday), but the flights looked too full since we fly standby. So we opted for Saturday. Hopefully we will get out. Summer is just not a good time to try to fly standby with the all the families taking their annual vacations while the kids are out of school. Luckily, since Keegan was accepted into the year round program at Morrisville Elementary, this will be the last time we have to try to fly during the busy summer months.

The kids are VERY excited to be going of course. I originally thought it was because we were flying, but now I think it's just because we are going to "Illinois where Leena is". Leena for those of you whom don't know, is Grandma and Grandpa Clarkes cat. One of three which they have, and of course which I am allergic too.

We have rented a car, a 2007 Chevy Impala at the airport. This is a story in and of itself. You see, with three small kids, we need car seats and booster seats. Well, these are not small and require a rather wide rear seat in order to be able to fit. So to be sure they would before I rented this, I had to drive to the nearby Chevrolet dealer and pretend I was interested (which actually we are) in the car and try out the car seats. The salesman was very nice about it - probably because it was a very very very slow day, being 1) it was Sunday, 2) it was Fathers Day, 3) It was about 95F and 90% humidity out. But I had to get it done to reserve a car. It went smooth and the car seats fit with about 1" to spare. Amazing how wide these things are. We really prefer the Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, but being that the rear seat is about 4" narrower it's not an option at this point.

I've wrapped everything up at work here so there will be no loose ends when I return. Always a good feeling especially since I will surely have forgotten what it is that I was working on before I left.
