Sun, Sand and Surf

Back to work today. I hurt. Really got burnt at the beach on my upper half. I always think about it when I'm at the beach, but figure it won't be that bad and then sure enough, it's that bad. Ugh. My fault.
We are going to look at a dining room table tonight that we found on Craigslist. Hopefully this will be the one we like as the price and size are right and it comes with eight chairs. I'm a little worried about the color though as it's oak and not our first choice, but there are some lighter oaks that may work. It's nearby so we'll go take a look.

Today the entire day was spent at Wrightsville Beach, NC. We always like that beach, it's one of our favorites and it's the closest. 145 miles it turns out from driveway to parking spot. I ended up riding the Moto Guzzi there, it rolled over 21,000 miles on the return ride home. I averaged 42 mpg which is great considering the approx. 80 mph average I maintained for the two hour trip. It was a gorgeous 82F and sunny day the entire time. We got to the beach at 11:15 am and left at about 4:30pm. So about five hours there. Everyone had a terrific time. Keegan wouldn't come out of the water but for about 15 minutes to eat and drink in spurts then he was off again. He would go out withsome to about his chest level and just jump at the waves as they hit him. He loved it. He's liking the water more and more. Carson still loves the sand more. He would roll around in it at times even. He likes to be covered and warm and fill us buckets with water, etc. Ian liked a little of both. He even napped for two hours this time. We all had a great time. I think we can maybe get one more beach trip in before it becomes too cold outside. I'm going to be so busy at work during the entire month of October, so that will slow our vacation plans down some.
We got home around 7pm, everyone took turns eating and showering and then off to bed by 10pm. We were all exhausted!

We had planned on the beach today, but Carson hurt his head last night by falling off the white stool I keep in the garage to reach things. I was busy changing the oil on the Guzzi to get it ready to ride to the beach, and he had climbed up on it to get some tools to pretent to work on their Jeeps with Keegan when he tipped over and hit his head on Amandas bike parked nearby. He hit his head on the rear sprocket and it punctured a hole in his scalp. Quite gross to me but Amanda can handle that stuff, so she cleaned him out good. We decided to wait an extra day for the beach so it could cover over and we could be sure it was ok. It turned out to be a good decision and on beach day (Sunday) it was fine for the water.
So we went on two Geocachining hunts today. The first was not successful, the second (at the retirement home) was and we had a lot of fun. From their we all headed to Chik-Fil-A to let my parents taste the good chicken and watch the kids play a bit. Then we headed to the Martha Stewart homes nearby so my parents could see the amazing kitchens and baths. Overall I think they liked them but agreed they were too expensive.
We headed home then and got dinner ready for the kids and my parents and then Amanda and I left to go out to dinner by ourselves. We went to the mexican restaurant by K-Mart which we had never tried. Turned out to be pretty good overall and we had a lot to drink. :) It was a fun time to get away for two hours and relax with a nice dinner. That was our 'late' anniversary celebration.
