Trying to Keep Up...

Payday...woohoo! :)

My first official full day in my new position on the Core QA team here at Peopleclick. It's going good and I like the change. Saddest part for me is not sitting by the window anymore, and missing the camraderie with the people I worked with on the 9th floor, but it does allow me more time to do this miscellaneous stuff and concentrate more on my work too. It's been a very productive day overall.

Again, it's going to be a hot day. We were up early as usual, with Carson coming in and saying "I'm hungry" like clockwork.

After getting the kids up and fed, Amanda and I put up the last piece of board from our project I mentioned yesterday and then needed to wait a good 24 hours for the glue to dry (it was too small to nail).

We had lunch and then Amanda left to go to the 'sellers only' consignment sale that she last weekend put up a bunch of old kids toys and clothes in. This is suppose to be a 'perk' if you sell stuff in this sale that they let you in before the buying public. She found a few items, and a booster seat for Carson as he'll be needing that soon - when he hits 40 lbs. He's at 36.5 lbs right now.

While she was gone I watched the kids. Got out the kiddie pool for them and they had a good time on new 'smaller' portion of our deck. It was shaded by then, so that was nice and the mosquitos left us alone!

When Amanda came home two hours later I left to go clothes shopping. I desperately needed some new shirts and shorts. Took about 1 1/2 hours and got 9 shirts and 2 pairs of shorts. Also found 2 small Erector sets for the kids but hid them in car and will give them to them later. Perhaps in 3 weeks when Keegan is out of school for his first 'track out' experience.

We grilled a nice chicken for dinner and read some books for bed. Goodnight.

Today was hot as it's been for what seems like forever this summer. Mid 90's and very humid again. Amanda and I spent most of the afternoon trying to piece together the portion of our new deck where it joins to the old one. Neither of us were happy how the builder did it, so we took their one piece of wood off, and put up two in it's place. It's going to look much better, but boy was it hot. It was the first time I got to use my new Black & Decker jigsaw. Worked great too and made the job so much easier.

The kids did good entertaining themselves and each other for the several hours that we messed with this. Thanks boys!

After that we all cleaned up and went to Walmart (which I hate) and bought odds-n-ends, and let the kids pick out any toy (within reason) that they each wanted. They ended up leaving with a 'kitchen' set - it came with a blender and coffee maker, and the usual misc. plates, cups, spoons and a small 'baby chick' puzzle.

They played with that kitchen set nostop since we got home. Of course it takes batteries.

We were only home a bit and then at 7pm left to go to downtown Raleigh for the 'Raleigh Wide Open' celebration. Raleigh is once again after I don't know how many years, opening Fayetteville Street mall to vehicular traffice. So this was to celebrate the 'Grand Opening' of it. It was PACKED! I've never seen so many people down there, and I've worked down there for the past four years. We saw the fireworks which were spetacular!!! I've never been so close to fireworks. The kids loved them, and Ian fell asleep about 10 minutes into them (with Amanda holding her hand over his ears because we were so close). Funny sideline, before the fireworks started, Amanda got the boys Twinkies. They had never had them but of course loved them. Ian was almost done with his when the fireworks began. He immediately put a death grip on his twinkie, clenching his fist closed and wouldn't let go of it, until he fell asleep in the car. It was a mess. He does that with his fist when he's not relaxed. It was sad in a way, but funny too. My ears were actually ringing a bit once we got in the car. It was a 30 minute show but we left about five minutes early to beat the traffic which worked out perfectly. All three boys fell asleep on the ride home.

Ok, i'm going to try this again.

At first I was thinking I would write more often on here, but I just have to accept that that is not going to happen....so I'm going to use this for 'activity' log instead. Meaning, just to keep track of things we/I did on that day. Basically like a diary I guess, but my reason for doing so is 100% for the kids.

I'll go back as far as I can remember, which isn't very far! So I'll cover from Saturday thru Monday (today), and then hopefully each new day will make a new entry, but if I miss a day, I'll catch up like I'm doing in this one.

We spent the entire day at Wrightsville Beach. We ALL loved it! The kids had such a great time. I really enjoy seeing them so excited. It makes me really want to go more often, but we usually avoid it during the summer for two reasons, first is the heat, second is that it's tourist season. But we left right at 8am and got there at 10am. Found a parking space easy, but I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that they were calling for rain in the afternoon.

And sure as sure, at 2pm, the sky was getting dark. It was just perfect timing. The kids were exhausted and didn't put up a fight leaving. We stopped at McDonalds on the way out, grabbed some burgers and fries and ate. About 10 minutes later, the skies opened up and it rained hard on the way home. The kids slept the entire ride. :)
