Took a Break...
30 Oct 2008 [Thursday]
Worked...but found out terrible news that Eric was laid off from Art.com -- totally unexpected I guess and just a horrible time with the holidays coming up. I hate business and how they only care about a profit. Just hate it. But he should be OK and able to land a new job quickly since he has great skills and is a hard worker.
26 Oct 2008 [Sunday]
Keegan and I had our canoe trip down the Falls of the Neuse River in North Raleigh. Based out of a business called 'Paddle Creek'. It was AWESOME! At first when they pushed us off into the water we started spinning. Current was faster than I expected and I didn't know how to control the canoe! :) Finally got the hang out of it about a 1/4 of the way down the river and then we did GREAT as a team steering down. We went for a 1 1/2 hour trip and it was just unbelievable! Just beautiful and relaxing! I really want to do it with Amanda and the kids, but it would cost $100 total. Once my job feels more secure, we'll definitely be taking the trip!
When Keegan and I got home, we all carved our pumpkins in the garage on a beautiful day (but very windy!).
25 Oct 2008 [Saturday]
We went to 'Get Outside and Learn' farm in Holly Springs. Wasn't as good as I thought, but the kids had fun with the animals and I loved talking to the wife that ran the place and her middle son. Turns out four years ago, they lived near Highhouse and NC 55, in a subdivision and wanted a bigger yard and to be able to raise some animals and teach their 3 boys (just like us!) about outside life. So they found 8 1/2 acres and moved there and haven't looked back. They had some great knowledge for us, and I liked to get the middle kids opinion (the other kids weren't around). He said he missed some friends (my BIGGEST concern about doing it for the kids), but found other things to do. One day, one day we'll get a farm like that and have chickens, a dirt track and a huge veggie garden! One day! We got out pumpkins there and so finally the kids stopped asking when we were going to get them. :)
24 Oct 2008 [Friday]
Went to the State Fair for a work outing. Cold and windy. We only stayed about two hours... just walked around and then we left. Boring really, but better than being at work! Amanda and I decided to not take the kids this year as we have gone every year in the past and just wanted a break. Good decision as the weather for the most part was unseasonably cold and windy.
11 Oct 2008 [Saturday]
Went to our first Y-Guides Second Year get together and campout at Crosswinds campground in Jordan Lake. Wonderful night and lots of fun! We all went fishing the next morning and lo-and-behold, Keegan was the only one to catch a fish! I was SOOO proud of him, that I got a blurry picture of the fish, but not him with it! Doh! Dumb Dad mistake!
16 Sept. 2008 [Tuesday]
Suppose to have a soccer game but it got rained out AGAIN! Amanda was in a really, really bad mood when I came home and we had a big argument that really hurt me. We worked through it all night. Marriage takes a lot of work, but it's worth it. It's these struggles, conflicts, disagreements that make it stronger I feel. I realize this more and more as I get older and we have been married longer. Helps me to understand what my parents went thru and all the arguments I heard them have while I was growing up there.
13 Sept 2008 [Saturday]
Went to soccer practice for Keegan, then we stopped at Wendy's had lunch on the way to Mary Thorn's house for a pool party. Beautiful house and great pool. We all had a great time. Came home and we had Alex and T.J. over for dinner that night. The kids (especially Keegan) was super excited. It turned out very nice and the kids stayed till almost 8pm. Just a great day overall.
11 Sept 2008 [Thursday]
It's our 9th year anniversary! WooHoo! Amanda bought me a beautiful Citizen's Eco-Drive Titanium watch! I really, really love the style and have been wanting a nice watch for months and months since my Wegner (sp?) died. Although when I found out it cost $200 I was going to return it, but as I wore it more I've decided to keep it. Never needs a battery so I really like that too! Amanda thought I forgot our anniversary, but I didn't and she was surprised. I got her a volleyball, knee pads and a cappuccino machine! :) It was nice to know I surprised her so good! I played it off the whole week before like nothing was happening! :)
17 May 2008 [Saturday]
Started my vacation which was suppose to be for Niagara Falls and Pittsburg, but we'll do the Outer Banks for a few days instead because of my accident. We'll leave on Monday morning now.
[MISC.]
I took a break from recording stuff as I just got burned out. I went back and recorded some things, but that will explain why the big gaps and low detail. I'll try to pick it back up again like I have in the past now that winter is starting to set in.
