A Whole Bunch At Once

-- 8 March 2007 [Thursday]

Super busy day at work again. I got a lot accomplished. Amanda is going to skip going into work tonight which is a nice break for her. I'll probably put down a few misc. pieces of tile that I can, as cutting takes time and I want to do what I can while I wait for the rest of it to dry out.

-- 7 March 2007 [Wednesday]

I worked from home as Amanda worked the front desk all day. She had a busy day from 7am-7pm, but the extra money is really nice now, especially since I do not trust Peopleclick anymore from a stability standpoint. I was able to get our Great Wolf Lodge pictures posted online too so Amanda can send out to family. Amanda and I finished putting the full pieces of tile in last night, so all that remains now is the cut pieces and the grout. We look to have the washer and dryer back in by Thursday next week when my mom comes down. Waiting the 2 days in between for drying time is what is taking so long, but I don't want to rush it, that's for sure. Really looks good color wise!

Very hectic at work trying to catch up and get a handle on the NG Security user migration that I am supposed to be working on. Amanda went into work at night again to keep on top of things.

-- 3,4 and 5 March 2007 [Saturday, Sunday & Monday]

We were on vacation at The Great Wolf Lodge. Had a great time, except for finding parking was a bear!!! (no pun intended) We got there right at 1pm on Saturday to check in and Mickey suprised us by meeting us there. They let you go swiming before your room is ready at 4pm so that's what we did, in between talking with Mick. Mark also stopped by for a bit and we talked. Was really good to see him. Wish he would have stayed longer after we got settled in the room. The next 2 1/2 days consisted of swimming, doing free crafts, treasure hunts and playing in the room, etc. Kids were worn out as were Amanda and I as we didn't sleep good with Ian in bed with us. We learned that he really needs his own bed at this point now.

Checked out on Monday at 11am. Kids were so tired they didn't want to go swimming anymore even though we could. Fine by me as I was exhausted. We stopped at IHOP and ate real food again after 3 days of TV dinners. Kids ate the most food in one sitting I have ever seen. Keegan had a full adult size plate of pancackes, I think there were 5 of them, about 8" in size. He ate them all.
Carson ate about 2 scrambled eggs, 3-4 sausages, and 3-4 smaller pancackes and Ian ate eggs and pancakes as well but not as much. Amazing. Of course Amanda and I didn't disappoint either and we gulped down our dishes too. :) Man that tasted good. I thing about people on the 'Survivor' show who don't have real food for weeks sometimes. I can't imagine how good it tastes to them after us only going without for 3 days! :)

Stopped at Mick and Carl's on the way home. Visited for about 3 hours. Ian actually slept outside in the truck the whole time as it was 70F and he is sick and cannot come in the house, so it worked out perfect and I am thankful for that so I could visit with Carl again. Finally left around 3pm and we got home around 7pm that night. Exhausted. Poor Amanda had to go into work for a bit and came home around 11pm. Our bed felt sooooo good!

I worked a 1/2 day today and took PTO for the rest so I could get home by 2pm to get ready for trip. Really good decision as we had a lot to do and we were done by 8pm I think it was, instead of our usual midnight routine. I brought Carson and Keegan with to the laundromat as our washer and dryer are still in the family room due to our bathroom remodeling downstairs. I actually enjoyed it and it reminded me of living in an apartment and for some reason didn't mind it. Kids did well the whole time and enjoyed helping and looking at everything. We finished packing then, cleaned up the house a bit and I checked the truck tires and oil for our trip.

Worked a sev 1 at work which kept me very busy. Amanda worked early morning and at night to catch up on paperwork at the office. I had a talk with Monica about how unhappy I was with promotions and being passed over, etc. We'll see what comes of it. She didn't seem to receptive.

Worked from home, can't remember anything out of the ordinary.

-- 27 February 2007 [Tuesday]

Had review at work and told carlos how unhappy I was with promotion process

-- 26 February 2007 [Monday]

Worked as usual. Still not feeling good, but don't want to use another sick day unless I really have to. Going to try to put down the hardiback floor tonight so I can start to tile at night after the kids are in bed. My goal is to have it tiled and grouted if possible before we leave on vacation.
Had my review scheduled for today but it got moved to tomorrow night. Ugh. Have to wait another day to see how upset I might be. I really expect a promotion and if I don't get it will definetly voice my disapproval and will start looking for another job (unless they just give me the pay and not the title, which is fine by me). After all I am working for the money, not the title.

Very overcast, cold and rainy day. Didn't help any of us to feel better from our colds. We did get the whole bathroom floor stripped down to the subfloor and at night I used a leveling compound to level out the low spots. Smells horrible and wore a mask. Opened the windows (since it was at night and kids were sleeping already) to try to get rid of the smell. Now all that remains is to put the hardiback down (Monday night hopefully) and then start laying tile! I'm excited. I feel the 'not so fun' stuff is behind us of tearing apart. Now we can start building back up with the new stuff.

This whole weekend has been kind of a blur. Everyone is sick except for Ian thank goodness. Some kind of fever, cough, congestion sickness which is horrible. Carson seems to be slowly getting over it. Keegan has it the worst right now, and then Amanda and I am at the end. We all hope to be over it by Friday as we leave on Saturday morning for vacation. I feel like vacation is a long way away...I don't even know where the hotel is and don't even have the energy to look it up right now. We did more on our bathroom project. Slowly but surely it's getting closer.

Keegan and I played a little tennis outside in the afternoon as it was very warm. He suggested it and I was very happy to do so. I love to see him get interested in some sports a bit. Ian was sleeping and Carson was inside with Amanda. Carson had a birthday party for Dylan and Mahya(sp?) at 4pm at Pump-It-Up, which he had a good time at.

-- 23 February 2007 [Friday]

Nothing special. Came to work. Colder out today so I don't miss not being outside.

-- 22 February 2007 [Thursday]

Took a sick day today. Weather was 72F and Keegan was on track out and Carson didn't have school. What a great day. We started off the morning by finishing the painting in the bathroom downstairs we are renovating. Then went to the 'Train' park as the kids call it. Same park where we had Keegan's 5th birthday party. Got some Chik-Fil-A on the way there then ate in the car as it was very, very windy out. We brought the kites along too and home some success flying them. Amanda did better than me, and all the kids got to fly them. Ian loved it, but then he let go as the kite was pulling so hard so I had to chase it across the field a bit to grab the string before the kite hit the big pine trees. Very funny.

Stopped at Lowes afterwards to pick up some tile backing board and a bunch of tile samples. I think we decided on a nice darker green/grey tile which will add some color to the house. I'm excited to see it done!

Took Keegan and Carson to their final T-Ball class. Keegan did great, but Carson didn't want to participate again, but the poor guy was running a high fever by the time we left. Stopped and got Keegan an ice-creme bar for doing so well out there and picked up a lucky lotto ticket. :) On the drive home Keegan said "Dad, I know what I want for Christmas... a new engine for my electric train and lotto tickets". :)

Worked from home today. Amanda went into work from 2-5pm to try to learn some things that JoEllen knew as this was her last day. Amanda is going to be helping out Dr. Dunsmoor until she can find a new front desk receptionist. The extra money is nice for sure and Amanda will only work after I come home, except for Wednesdays when she can work all day there.

Can't recall anything out of the ordinary happening at this point.

(note: Not sure what happened to my 13-19th entries on here, but it's March now and no way I can remember them, sorry!)
