Our Anniversary

-- 11 September 2006 [Monday]

Today is Amanda and mine seven year anniversary! What are we doing to celebrate this you wonder? Well, how about I worked, the kids went off to school, Amanda did errands, then we'll cook them dinner, play, read them books and off to bed. :) You see my parents are coming down this Thursday and they have offered to watch the kids so Amanda and I can go out to dinner one night. I plan on taking Amanda to The Angus Barn in Raleigh, since neither of us have been there and we have always wanted to try it. It's VERY expensive, so I don't expect to leave there for less than $100. It's not like we eat there often! This is our first time in the eight years we have lived out here. :)

Keegan's first day back at school today after his three week track out. He seemed excited about it and so did Amanda (for some peace and quite).

It's nice and cool today for a change. 78F as a high. All week is suppose to be nice. Hopefully we'll have nice weekend for the beach for my parents.

We'll this morning before lunch I tried to cook up some meatballs so they were ready for dinner. They went together well and I put them in the crockpot. But come dinner time they were horrible I thought. Amanda was nice and choked them down claiming 'they were fine', but I sure didn't care for them.

We went out to McDonalds for lunch as the kids were going stir crazy and I wanted them to play somewhere. It was nice, although Amanda and I hate the food. They love the 'fort' playground there. Did a few errands on the way home including returning the Nintendo Gamecube. Felt good and the kids didn't care. They even went in the store with me.

I got the oil changed in the truck. The kids loved watching that as they layed spread out on the garage floor.

I took the URAL on a trip to a nearby tire store to compare prices to BJ's. BJ's wins hand down on price. Hopefully their service will be ok when Amanda takes the truck tomorrow to get them put on. I then went to the foodstore to pick up some bread and cheese for our meatball sandwich for dinner and got some gas. Ural is very fun on short trips. I just wished it shifted better. I grind the gears 99% of the team. Once in a blue moon I have a butter smooth shift, but can't recreate it.

Keegan and I had our 'night out' after an early dinner. He decided he wanted to go bowling which was cool. So we went to Buffaloe Lanes bowling around 6pm. It was pretty empty which was great. We bowled one game and then played some of the arcade games. He loves seeing those tickets come out. We stopped at McDonalds on the way home and got some M&M McFlurry's and at them under the clock tower there. It was a nice time with beautiful cool weather. When we got home he and I went on a quick bicycle ride in the neighborhood and then we all read some books and the kids went to bed. Amanda and I watched a good movie called "Match Point" and then lights out for us as well.

We had a birthday party for Jenna at 12:30pm, but before that I had on my must-do list to get the backyard mulched. So I was out the door by 8am with Keegan and Carson to get mulch in the truck. That was the first of three trips that morning! Spent $160 total on much needed mulch. Amazing how much better the back yard looks from it. I worked non-stop until 11:30 am and ran in to take a shower and get ready. Elaine asked if Amanda could come early to help setup (!!) so we got there about 12:15pm, and helped a bit. Nice house as it was the first I had seen of it. Beautiful in ground pool too.

We all had fun at the birthday party and kids did a gumball machine craft. Really cool. They loved it. Ian was too small though and didn't even notice the activity being done. Of course they got the gumball machines filled with candy which they liked the best. Got home around 3:00pm and the kids played with the little energy they had left. Meanwhile I went out to Lowes and grabed some weed killer amanda wanted and found a new bird bath bowl! I was so excited about that. Finally the back yard looks great again and the birds have water. I also stopped in the other close by game store looking for PS1 games. Same story as before - they no longer deal in that stuff.

We had a nice dinner and family walk and went to bed.

Worked. On the way home stopped and tried to get the 'Driver' game for their Playstation One system. They had it before, but Ian cracked the disc. Well it turns out the game stores don't even carry that model or games anymore as it's too old. ugh. So I went on a limb and purchased a used Nintendo Gamecube and a couple of games for $91 total. Brought it home, kids tried it after dinner and didn't care for it much. I'll return it most likely and look on eBay for a bunch of old PS1 games which are dirt cheap anyways.
