Another Middle of the Week
-- 09 November 2006 [Thursday]
I can't believe it's November already - and almost ten days into it at that! It's exciting as I like the holidays because of all the family time.
Another typical day at work. Today was Keegan's last day before his second track out starts. He's quite excited. It will be easier on me for awhile as I should be able to get into work earlier and leave earlier as I don't have to wait to drop him off if I'm ready to go earlier. It all depends on how quickly I can get myself going of course.
It was very nice and warm out today and tomorrow is suppose to be near 80F! A near record. I'm going to ride the motorcycle in tomorrow as neither Carson nor Keegan has school so I can leave home early and don't need the car to carry them to dropoff.
We plan on going to the zoo on Saturday. The kids don't seem to excited, but I think once they get there they will like it. Very odd that they both said they don't want to go. Don't know what would cause that - maybe it was all the walking they did last time we were there? We'll be sure to bring strollers and a nice packed lunch this time. I tried to find a hotel to stay at in town with an indoor pool, but they only have outdoor ones and they are all closed for the season. There is an aircraft museum we'd like to see out there as well, but it's too much to do both in one day and if we stay at a hotel without a pool to play in, it won't go over too well and it will be too hard to bleed of their energy before bed. :)

Typical day again. Nothing special. Amanda got the tired patched this morning while I worked from home. We she got back I put it on the car as I had to go into work for the free flu shot I was signed up for. I've been getting the shots as long as they are free (I never used to get them). I figure it can't hurt, but I'm always leary as one year I got the flu! My arm always hurts a bunch for two days or so, which makes it hard to sleep as I can't sleep on my back.

Dropped Keegan off at school and tried to vote there, but it turned into a big hassle with a long line and a volunteer discouraging me because it was not my designated polling station. What a pain. I was very upset about it. They want people to vote but they don't make it easy. Ugh.
Worked again of course. Went out to the car at night in the parking garage and I had a flat tire! I swear this is my first flat tire - EVER. Thankfully it was in the parking garage as it was pouring down rain all day and night. So I changed the tire and made a game of it. The movie "A Christmas Story" came to mind. The part where the father gets a flat with the family in the car and times himself to see how fast he can change it. So I did that, but cheated a bit. Once everything was set out I started the clock and stopped it once the spare was back on the ground. 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Not too bad I think. Of course the spare only had 1/2 of the recommended 60 PSI in it, so I stopped at a nearby gas station and stood out in the rain and darkness getting it up to 60 PSI. It was made more difficult by the fact that my tire gauge only goes to 50 PSI. I was soaked by the time I was done.
On the way home I stopped at the YMCA to place my vote as it was election day for the primaries. My biggest concern was voting YES to the Wake County $970 million dollar school bond issue. We need more schools, not trailers, and I'm more than happy to pay an extra $85 a year in taxes to help support the building of all these new schools and the renovations at others.
We watched a great movie at night called 'V for Vendetta'. Very good to me, but only OK to Amanda.
