Old Man Winter is on His Way

-- 03 November 2006 [Friday]

It's Friday! Yay!!! I took the first half of the day off today as I volunteered at Keegan's school in the morning. I was a bit nervous thinking about it, but ended up having a great time. I didn't get to help at Keegan's table but he kept saying "Hi Dad" when he walked by. I loved it. Made me smile. The kids just talk 100mph and when one comes up with something to talk about they all jump on that wagon and give their 'view' or 'rehash' of it. It was very funny. After center time I stayed for their snack and was able to sit at the 'Red' table between Keegan and Jack (one of his two best friends, Timothy is the other). It was great. I had them laughing it up. They tried to guess how old I was, I also told them I was the 1990 Tic-Tac-Toe champion and was on TV and that I saw the president in the store. You should have seen how big their eyes were about the ..... being on TV as the Tic-Tac-Toe champion. They loved it and were giggling away. We were a bit too loud. Oops. :) It was so much more fullfilling than my job. I sure wish it paid more and I'd jump on that profession in a heartbeat.
Rode the Guzzi into work since it was the afternoon and nice. it was 50F out but cold with the windchill when I was riding. Still nice for a change though.

Amanda worked again in the morning, so I worked from home again. Nice to have the extra income.
We had a fire in the fireplace last night (even though we are waiting on our new fire door that Amanda ordered). Kids liked it and it was our first official fire of this fall/winter.
I keep referring to winter coming as "Old Man Winter" .... and the kids laugh at that. Amanda said she has never heard of that! She doesn't believe me. I'll have to Google it and show her. The kids keep telling me to "Stop it! It's not Old Man, it's just called winter."

Worked from home today all day. Amanda worked in the morning. She was home early enough that I could meet Keegan for lunch as a suprise. I rode the Moto Guzzi over there and we sat outside with his friend Noah. It was a beautiful day out and a great time. Noah is sure a talker. He told me about how they chase Sophia (from another class) and her 'gang' (he also called it her 'crew') around the playground. They call it 'war'. Keegan, Timoth and Noah do this from what I could understand. Noah said Sophia is his girlfriend and he's going to marry her. Keegan said he likes 'Alex B' which really was cute to here. You could see he was embarrassed about it but finally said it. I tried to play it down so as to not embarass him. So cute to see him growing up.
