A Birthday Filled Weekend of Fun

-- 06 November 2006 [Monday]

Another typical Monday as far as I can tell. I'm at work as usual after dropping the kids off at school. Nothing unusual so far. Hope it stays that way.

It was Keegan's turn for a birthday party today. We went to Jack Cummings' birthday party at the 'local' putt-putt golf/go kart/arcade type of place. Amanda and I had been there one time before long ago to play golf during the summer. This time we all went (we paid for the other kids and ourselves). They all had a good time. It was crowded and kind of cool outside. Carson went on his first official by HIMSELF go-kart ride!!! I was so proud of him. Keegan wouldn't do it of course, so Carson went instead. It was on the kiddie carts - still a real go-kart, just limited by the throttle lock. He strapped in and went. He had a hard time at first as he couldn't push the gas pedal down far enough as his legs were too short, but he did amazing driving on the track once he figured out to scoot up in his seat. He still couldn't push it down all the way but was going around good and didn't hit anything. He freaked out a bit on the first lap as he was going so slow people were bumping into him. He didn't like that but I told him to go around again and then he loved it. He steered great and parked it better than any of the other kids when it was over. Amazing!!! I tried to go on the double-kart with him (which are fast, but he just sits in the passenger seat). The line was short but the people running it were idiots to say the least and didn't care how long they made you wait. I got so frustrated that I got out money back after we decided to not wait any longer. We'll go again when it warms up. They kids also played the arcade token games and got tickets on those which they traded in for your typical ticket stuff. They had a great time overall. Jack is one of Keegan's best friends at school, so I'm glad it all worked out in the end.

Carson went to Isabella's birthday party today in Pittsboro at her house. Only Amanda went with him as it was more a 'private house' party than a public place. He had a great time and was exhausted from all the jumping in the outside jumper they rented. He fell asleep on our couch at 4:30pm, woke up for dinner and then wanted to go up to his bedroom for the night. :) Isabella's is the girl he has a crush on in school, so it's really cute how excited he is. Amanda said they have a beautiful house with 5 acres, but it's in Pittsboro and it's probably over $600,000 (since it's for sale).
While they were at the party, I took Keegan and Ian around for errands of all sorts. Kind of a boring day for them, but it was much too cold to play outside. We got some household supplies, bought Jacks birthday presents for tomorrow and I looked for a tool I couldn't find. The most fun part was that us three went out to Courtney's for a breakfast/lunch at 1pm. We all ended up eating some breakfast food at the restaurant. Keegan liked it since it was a 'sit down' non-fast food place, although he didn't much care for his hamburger and ended up eating Ian's scrambled eggs that were left after Ian filled out on his waffle, which Keegan really liked but was for Ian. Next time I will know what to order Keegan then (he insisted on a hamburger of course).
