Don't Want to be Here

-- 24 August 2006 [Thursday]

Just a day at work where I don't want to be here. I'd much rather be at home. Amanda and I had an 'argument' this morning about a dress she wants to sell at a consignment store - which I already had thought she sold. But she hadn't. So leaving for work and being isolated here doesn't help my feelings. I've been reading this good book called 'Nickel and Dimed' that I got from the library. Sometimes while reading it, those menial jobs sound so appealing to me. Just go through the motions and not have to think and put up with stuff that is just out of your control most of the time. Aghh. But of course they won't pay the bills - at least not our bills, which really aren't bad.

Amanda took the kids to a play date this morning at the park. They all had a good time she told me. Tonight we are to go to Goodberry's for custard. Keegans school is having a fundraiser there, and we haven't been in ages. They have terrific custard that we all enjoy. Afterwards, we might drive to Creedmore to look at dining room table and eight chairs that Amanda found on Craigslist. We haven't been able to get a picture send to us as to what it looks like, so I'm hesitant to drive an hour each way to see it, but I think we will so Amanda can cross it off her list and not waste time on it, but perhaps we'll be suprised and like it - I sure hope so as I would like our dining room table search to be over and done with!

Worked from home today. Kids played good together most of the time. During my lunch hour we headed out to look at another house for sale in Morrisville. The back yard was fantastic!! .44 acres, with all the trees at the back. BUT, the house needed work. The trim color was a horrible blue and would need to be immediately changed and the deck needed work. Inside was well kept up, but the layout downstairs just didn't work for us. I think we could make it work, but at $284,000 we don't want to have to put another $10,000 or so into the house. We can't afford that. So I think we'll keep on looking a 'little', while we move forward with trying to get quotes on our kitchen remodeling.

Amanda had to go Dr. Dunsmoors to get a staff picture taken for some reason. I think it was some advertising thing Dr. Dunsmoor is doing. I made dinner after I logged off from work, and she walked back in the door just at the perfect time to sit down to dinner. We all went on a nice walk then and came home and gave the kids a bath. Keegan wanted to take a shower again instead, so he did. He's doing so great by himself in there. Amanda was really impressed as she hasn't seen him do that before really. After the kids went to bed, Amanda and I started to watch a movie called "Bewitched" - it was just looking too dumb for me, so I headed out to the garage to put the URAL rear end back together and stain a couple misc. pieces on the new deck. Getting both of those projects complete really felt good. I then read my book until her movie was over. Good choice Amanda said later.

Keegan and Carson had their dentist appointment today. They both did terrific and no cavities. They were excited to get new toothbrushes! :)

We looked at a house for sale at 111 Judges Bench Road in Morrisville. Very nice house in my mind, with a great usuable backyard. But we don't care for the neighborhood. Safe, but too bland. Not enough character, trees, etc. Otherwise I think we could live with it.
