Glad it's over

-- 11 August 2006 - [Friday]

That's all I can say... "I'm glad it's over". This week work wise has been pretty bad. Didn't make a lot of progress and felt like most of the time nothing was working for me. Really drives home the point why I hate this industry in general. It pays terrific of course, but the work is not satisfying. Maybe someday I'll be able to switch to something else, or even better yet stay home so I can enjoy the boys before they get too old.

This weekend we are going to play of course, and hopefully outside as the weather is suppose to finally cool down into the low 80's. Today has been in the high 70's and overcast with periods of rain. A welcome relief from the high 90's and humidity. We are also going to attempt the primer and first coat of color paint on the master bathoom vanity project. We just don't like the dark wood color off all our cabinets and decided to start with the master bath and see how repainting them goes. If it works good we will do the kids bathroom vanity next and then hire someone else to redo the entire kitchen. We want to have the kitchen cabinets refaced though, not painted, as the sides of them are just a paper covering and won't look too great. But for the bathrooms upstairs you hardly see the paper sides, so painting should suffice.

I rode the Moto Guzzi into work today. It was a nice change. Nearing 21,000 miles on it. Not a lot at all. I hardly ride it anymore besides to work now and then compared to before kids when I would take an occasional long trip. My commute to work is not fun on the interstate. When I worked at Siebel in Durham that was by far the best commute I had with the motorcycle and all the back roads available.

Nothing much to say about this day. Made some progress at work and it felt good. Amanda cut the grass when I got home. She loves to do that and I really don't. Amanda and I watched a movie (The Longest Yard) after the kids went to bed.

As I'm writing this on Friday, I'm having trouble remember Wednesday. Not much happened I guess. Played with the kids of course and worked as usual.

I think this night was the night that Amanda and I decided to start redoing the upstairs master bathroom vanity. We took off a couple of doors and sanded down to the wood and are going to attempt to repaint them this weekend some kind of off white color I think.
