4 Years and Counting
-- 28 August 2006 [Monday]
Today marks my four year anniversary working at Peopleclick. That's the longest I have ever been at any job since I started working. I don't see myself leaving anytime soon either. But at the same time there are many other things I would much rather be doing than working, but it pays the bills for us, and allows us to treat the kids to some nice times which is important to us.
Hope to work on the motorcycles a bit tonight after the kids go to bed. I need to get all the fluids changed in both of them. This amounts to six fluid drain/fills. Two each for the engine, gearbox and final drives. Luckily they use the same oils between them.
I've read a couple of motorcycle adventure stories today during work, and it makes me just want to pack up and leave were it not for family. I fantasize about selling most everything I own and getting a dual sport bike to explore the country. Well I obviously won't be doing that, but sometime down the road I will be taking a long to me two or three week solo ride wandering where I feel the pull.

Another great weekend day for our family. I woke up late (9:30am) with a phone call from my dad. He just wanted to talk basically and talk we did for over an hour. I honestly think in my entire life that is the longest phone call I have ever had with my father. I hope things work out, but there is nothing I feel I can really do. I was there to listen and that's what I did.
After that I had a nice breakfast with Amanda as she had not eaten yet, while the kids played and left us alone for a change. I hate to see them grow so fast, but I also cheerish the time when Amanda I can have more alone time for things too.
We then got ready and set our for our first Geocaching as a family. We had a GREAT time! The 'treasure' was only about .5 miles from our house, but we followed the GPS and since I had not updated the maps I didn't have all the sideroads loaded up. But we eventually found the park it was located in. We then set out. Keegan did terrific walking the entire way, even when we had to backtrack and were unsure at times where we were going. It was a hot day now at Noon, but the pine trees provided great shade for us so it was very comfortable (luckily the humidity was low). After about an hour searching through the pines off the path, we stumbled upon the hidden Geocache. The kids loved it. Carson even got involved wandering through the forest looking for it. Keegan wouldn't take his eyes off the GPS screen even though we tried to convince him it was THAT accurate. :) We signed the log book and looked through the small items left by others. Turns out that just the day before someone had found the cache according to the log book. On the way back to the truck, we stopped and checked out the new to us skate park that the town built. It's for skateboards and BMX bikes with all sorts of ramps and jumps. Interesting, and the kids enjoyed watching some skateboarders there while we reseted.
At 7pm that evening Keegan and I went to see Gina (our neighbor) sing at her church (Good Hope Baptist Church). It was a nice time. Amanda has brought him before, but this was my night alone with him. I enjoyed that part more! He and I stopped for GoodBerry's custard on the way home and we ran into Jim, Gina, Steven and Kevin there. Got home around 9pm. It was a great day overall.

Started the day off with a phone call at 7:45am from my mother. Not a good phone call and no need to discuss here. It really caught me off guard, but then after we talked for 45 minutes as she had to go into work, I thought about it and it shouldn't have been a suprise to me. I guess it was though and still is when I think about it. There isn't anything I can really do, and I surely don't want to take sides nor get caught in the middle, so I think I can only wait things out and let it run it's course and hopefully it will work out as it should, however that is.
We all went to Hemlock Bluffs for the afternoon. Trying to wear the kids down so they take a nap before the birthday party tonight. Keegan did terrific and walked the entire loop on his own, stairs and all. We brought the walkie talkies with and he loved that part. He would run up ahead and tell us about things and tell us to 'hurry up', 'come on', etc. It made me smile.
At 5pm we had Alex's birthday party to go to. Alex is Ian's brother. Ian is Keegans age and Alex is Carsons age and in the same Language Tots class as Carson is this year. Ivonne and Amanda have become pretty good friends as a result of it. It turned out to be a very fun party for the kids and a nice time to get out for Amanda and I. It was outside at a nearby park and the weather was perfect. Hardly any humidity. Big playground to play on and nice lake to look at. We were the last guests to leave. Stayed until about 8:15pm. A great day overall.
